Useful herbs for skin

Nature has provided many medicinal plants that are designed to help eliminate any imperfections in the dermis and preserve the beauty of the skin for as long as possible. But to use medicinal herbs for facial care at home, you do not need to buy the entire phytocosmetics department at a pharmacy or specialty store. To do this, it is enough to determine the skin type or the problem that needs to be dealt with (dryness, first wrinkles, acne or pigmentation).

For dry skin prone to allergies

The following plants are suitable for those with thin, dry dermis:

  • oregano – perfectly moisturizes and soothes dry sensitive skin, has antiseptic properties;
  • calendula – reduces inflammation, soothes irritated, allergy-prone dermis;
  • thyme – charges with vitamins, moisturizes and gives freshness to tight, flaky skin;
  • lavender – has an anti-inflammatory effect on tired, sensitive skin;
  • yarrow – relieves itching and irritation.

Using an infusion of these herbs, you can prepare masks, cosmetic ice, or make baths for washing.

For oily skin

Decoctions from plants that contain organic acids, tannins and phytoncides will help reduce oiliness and dry out inflammation. To improve excessively oily facial skin, the following are most often used:

  • aloe - the plant carefully cares for oily skin, prevents the appearance of acne and redness;
  • nettle – works well to relieve redness on oily and combination skin;
  • burdock root – helps to establish oxygen exchange in cells and also cleanse ducts;
  • mint – reduces oily skin and gives it tone (can also be used for rejuvenation);
  • plantain – treats acne and pustules, tightens pores;
  • horsetail – dries and heals rashes;
  • St. John's wort - the plant's restorative properties are highly valued in the fight against acne.

Young people with oily skin and youthful acne can use raspberry, immortelle and celandine leaves for facial care. Plants reduce oily shine, fill the skin with freshness and purity.

Herbs with anti-aging effect

Not only expensive creams with collagen can get rid of wrinkles and rejuvenate the skin. Nature also has many proven anti-aging remedies, for example, the following plants:

  • coltsfoot - softens the dermis and evens out the tone of the facial skin, making it smooth and silky;
  • rosemary – eliminates fine expression wrinkles and makes contour lines clearer;
  • chamomile – thanks to its healing and antiseptic effects, the herb prevents the appearance of the first wrinkles and stops the aging process;
  • radiola - restores tone to aging skin, gives the face a healthy, radiant appearance;
  • sage - has high antioxidant properties, stimulates the production of new epidermal cells and, as a result, tightens the skin, making it fresher and younger.

Healing plants are often used for various lifting masks with the addition of eggs, oatmeal or gelatin. This way you can tighten tired, aging skin at home.

For deep cleansing

All types of leather need daily cleaning. With the help of plants this can be done delicately and gently. Suitable for these purposes:

  • succession - used to normalize cellular processes, deeply cleansing and toning the dermis;
  • Nettle – due to its scrubbing properties, it is ideal for the care of oily and combination skin.

All these herbs can be included not only in masks, they can also be used in the form of baths or compresses to pre-steam the skin before cleansing or applying cosmetics.

Against age spots

Lemon juice is considered an excellent remedy that helps get rid of pigmentation. But before use, it must be diluted with water so as not to cause irritation. Instead of water, you can use infusions of the following plants:

  • dandelion – effectively eliminates freckles and even very strong pigmentation;
  • parsley – has whitening properties, makes skin tone more even and fresh.

You can collect and dry medicinal plants yourself. The main thing is that the product must be environmentally friendly and grow as far as possible from factories or road sections.

Knowing the properties of beneficial herbs, you can easily tidy up your facial skin and simply maintain its condition in the future.

Rules for use at home

Infusions and decoctions of medicinal plants can relieve the skin of many defects and premature aging. In order for the result to be as effective as possible, you must follow several rules for using them at home, as well as know the features of a particular recipe. To begin with, before using it in practice, it is important to familiarize yourself with the basics of phyto-cosmetology.

  • You can use herbs for the face in several ways: add them to masks, for daily washing, wiping or lotions, or prepare cosmetic ice.
  • The first thing to do is to check for an allergic reaction on a small area of skin on your hand, and only after making sure that there is no reaction, apply the product to your face.
  • If you have a favorite homemade mask, it can be easily improved by replacing the liquid component (milk, juice) with a herbal decoction.
  • After a course of 10 - 15 herbal masks, you need to take a short break, and then change the composition of the product so that the skin does not “get used to it”.
  • If the plants are collected independently, they don’t even need to be dried; they can be used fresh.
  • All decoction recipes are best applied immediately or a few hours after preparation.
  • It is better to use glass or ceramic containers to store cosmetic compositions.
  • If there are fresh scratches, acne, inflammation, scars or traces of recent plastic surgery on the face, it is better to postpone the procedure with medicinal herbs.
  • The collected plants can be stored for two years, in a dry place out of reach of sunlight.

Leave any herbal mask on your face for no more than 30 minutes. Because all useful plants are biologically active only for half an hour.

Regular use of folk beauty recipes will help you achieve excellent results. So, it is better to use masks for oily skin twice a week, and once a week for dry skin. For prevention, it is enough to make a herbal mask once every ten days.

Recipes for skin

Folk cosmetology is based on the use of natural raw materials and healing ingredients. Having prepared a face mask from herbs, you do not need to worry about possible harm to the body. But everything should be in moderation. From time to time it is necessary to alternate plants and procedures (for example, change masks to tonic or wiping with ice to lotions), and also give the skin a little rest.

For rejuvenation

Mature skin with noticeable wrinkles can be pampered with masks that simultaneously tighten, moisturize and saturate the dermis with nutrients. Therefore, in addition to herbs, cosmetic compositions may contain vegetable or milk fats.

Mint cocktail

The composition of this mask helps fight the signs of aging, and thanks to dandelion it will get rid of pigmentation and freckles.

Compound:

  • mint leaves - two teaspoons;
  • dandelion leaves - two teaspoons;
  • liquid honey - one teaspoon;
  • tea tree oil – a few drops;
  • egg - one piece.

Sequence of procedure:

  1. Grind fresh mint and dandelion.
  2. Add raw egg to the leaves.
  3. Melt honey and tea tree oil in the microwave or in a water bath.
  4. Mix honey with the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
  5. Apply to face, rinse after 20 minutes.

Tea tree oil moisturizes dry skin and does not create a greasy sheen on oily skin. Therefore, the product is universal and suitable for all skin types.

Anti-wrinkle mask with sage

The procedure allows you to rejuvenate aging skin by activating elastin synthesis in cells and saturating it with vitamins.

Compound:

  • sage - two teaspoons;
  • cottage cheese – 10 g;
  • egg yolk - one piece.

Sequence of procedure:

  1. Pour sage with a small amount of boiling water and mash in a mortar.
  2. Gradually add the remaining ingredients.
  3. Apply the mixture to your face (from bottom to top) and leave for 15 - 20 minutes.
  4. After a while, remove the remains with a napkin.

After seven to eight sessions, a noticeable lifting effect is noticeable.

Rubbing with frozen sage infusion will also help to rejuvenate your face and relieve puffiness.

For people with rosacea on the face, such procedures may be contraindicated; it is better to consult a dermatologist or cosmetologist.

Anti-aging mix

The procedure will improve your complexion, tone your skin and help remove antioxidants.

Compound:

Sequence of procedure:

  1. Mix all the herbs in one container and pour in a small amount of boiling water.
  2. Wait 20 - 25 minutes until the mixture steams and drain the liquid.
  3. Combine the mixture with sour cream, mix well and spread over the face, avoiding the area around the eyes.
  4. Lie down and cover the mask with a towel. Wait 15 - 20 minutes.
  5. Rinse off the composition with warm water.

This procedure can be done twice a week in winter and once every seven days in summer.

For hydration

To prevent all manifestations of dry dermis, you first need to soften and moisturize it, get rid of flaking, and also reduce inflammation.

  3. Combine herbs with yolk and flakes. Mix everything well.
  4. Apply the composition to the face (except for the area around the eyes) for 20 - 25 minutes.
  5. Wash off the mask with warm water without using cleanser.

If the skin is severely dry and flaky, the mask can be used every other day. Later, for prevention, reduce the procedure to once a week.

Moisturizing mask with coke oil

In combination with honey and coconut oil, the herbs have tonic properties. Cells are saturated with oxygen and active components that prevent dryness, flaking and itching.

  3. Steam your face by washing it with hot water.
  4. Apply a good layer of the mask onto the steamed dermis. Leave for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Rinse off the composition with running water.

Due to the fact that after using the mask, facial vessels are strengthened, the rosacea network is reduced, and the skin tone becomes even and beautiful.

Since dry skin is very sensitive, you should first test plant decoctions for allergic reactions; this should be done in the wrist area.

Herbs with sour cream

The procedure not only relieves irritation from sensitive skin, but also perfectly smoothes expression lines and refreshes the complexion.

  2. Cool the infusion to room temperature and combine with sour cream.

  4. After a while, wipe the mixture with a napkin.

For elasticity

In order for the skin to be tightened as long as possible, and the contours of the cheekbones and chin to have expressive lines, do not forget to regularly take care of the skin of the face, saturate it with vitamins and minerals, use tonic masks, and fill the cells with oxygen.

  3. Apply the mask to your face and cover it with a steamed towel.
  4. Leave for 20 minutes.
  5. Dry your face with a towel.

A sage compress will perfectly tighten the oval of the face and also protect the dermis from photoaging. This mask is relevant not only in the cold season, but also in the summer.

You can improve your mask recipe by adding dried or fresh parsley, which also fights pigmentation well.

For acne

Acne and redness most often appear on oily skin with enlarged and clogged pores. To solve this problem not only on youthful, but also on mature skin, you need to pay attention to herbs that contain phytoncides and flavonoids.

Use of plants in cosmetology

The best skin care products are vegetables and fruits.. You can easily prepare a mask from them, the effect of which lasts 15-20 minutes. After this time, the mask should be washed off with warm water.

The following few recipes for using natural fruits and vegetables to make masks will help you see this.

Using carrots:

  1. Moisten a cotton swab with fresh carrot juice. Apply to face for 1 hour.
  2. Simply apply thin slices of carrots to your face.
  3. Finely grated carrots combined with your day cream will be an excellent mask for cleansing the skin and tightening pores.
  4. For whitening facial skin, a mask of carrots grated on a beet grater and 1 tbsp. spoons of milk, to enhance the effect (freckles) - add a couple of drops of lemon juice to this mixture.

Uses of parsley:

  1. put pre-washed and chopped parsley leaves into the curdled milk. Apply the resulting mixture onto your face like a mask after 15-20 minutes. Rinse with cooled chamomile infusion. Then apply your day cream.
  2. To protect your skin from the sun, make the following solution: brew parsley (10-20g) in 1 liter of boiling water. Wipe your face with this infusion every evening.

Uses of Lemon:

  1. for oily facial skin (especially prone to acne), simply apply lemon slices to problem areas - forehead, cheeks, chin. It wouldn’t hurt to wipe your face with lemon every morning.
  2. If you prepare a solution of lemon juice (a few drops) and wash your face with it every day, you simply won’t find a better remedy for tightening pores.
  3. Lemon peel is an excellent product for caring for the skin of your hands and for strengthening your nails. Also, using lemon juice, you can easily get rid of stains from berries, fruits, and nicotine.

In addition, other healing effects of the most common plants are well known. For example, tomatoes perfectly cleanse the skin of acne. And, if you put a peach peel on your face, your skin will become much softer. The essential oil contained in rose has a strengthening effect on the skin. Chamomile infusion can be used as a balm for light brown hair; it gives it a wonderful shine. For tumors from insect bites, a parsley leaf applied to the sore spot will help. To get rid of eyelid swelling, drink cucumber juice (half a glass) in the morning. Before going to bed, you can massage your face with a slice of cucumber.

And of course, one cannot fail to mention all the beneficial properties of oatmeal.

This simple mask will help save your skin from dryness in the summer: 1 tsp. milk + 1 tsp. vegetable oil + juice of ½ lemon + 2 tsp. chopped oatmeal.

Apply to face using a gauze pad and rinse after 15-20 minutes (preferably with lotion). Mask option 2: 2 tsp crushed flakes + 2 tsp. grapefruit juice + 1 tsp. rose oil. Use as in the first option.

And this, of course, is not a complete list of all options for using plants.

Before using our sonnets, you must consult a doctor.

You define the direction in which your professional products are presented as “aesthetic herbal medicine”. What does the company mean by this concept?

Aesthetic herbal medicine is a branch of cosmetology based on the principles of classical herbal medicine, using the therapeutic effects of medicinal herbs to create aesthetic effects.

Aesthetic herbal medicine, in our understanding, involves the use of plants, primarily in their natural form, which allows us to maintain all the advantages of classical herbal medicine: a high content of biologically active substances (BAS) that are easily absorbed by skin cells, a natural combination of chemical compounds that determine a mild effect, and multicomponent therapeutic and aesthetic effects.

Why did you decide to rely on phyto-masks?

The company was founded by specialists with practical experience in using medicinal herbs directly in their raw form - dermatologists, herbalists, who in practice were convinced of the effectiveness of herbal medicine as a method of correcting various skin conditions, including cosmetic ones. The result of applying this experience was phyto-masks Erbelinica, represented by crushed collections of medicinal herbs based on flaxseed.

We set ourselves the task of creating a professional product using medicinal herbs in their native form, since we see certain advantages in this.

Firstly, the medicinal effect of many types of plants is associated with the presence in them of various biologically active substances, which have a diverse composition and belong to different classes of chemical compounds. They are found in plants in certain proportions, formed during the process of evolution, and effectively influence metabolic processes in skin cells, providing a strong antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, soothing, astringent, tonic and softening effect.

In general, preparations based on unprocessed natural raw materials are more physiological. The use of natural BAS complexes in cosmetics makes it possible to bring their effect closer to the physiological effect of natural substances of internal metabolism. And their high efficiency is due to the harmonious combination of several pharmacologically different components.

Due to this, the use of medicinal herbs in their natural form in terms of intensity and range of effects is equal to physiotherapeutic procedures, i.e. the effect is achieved through a general, complex action - lymph and blood circulation improves, metabolic and regenerative processes are launched, blood vessels are strengthened, and the skin's protective mechanisms are stimulated.

And this is the advantage of natural herbal remedies compared to drugs obtained by synthesis or isolation from plants.

Secondly, it is the powder form that makes it possible to present truly 100% natural professional products without the use of preservatives, fragrances, dyes, oil and fat bases.

And, of course, herbal medicine (herbal medicine) is a traditional Russian centuries-old practice, confirmed by scientific data. It is in Russia, like no other country, that there is such a culture and so much knowledge on the use of medicinal herbs, well, perhaps also in China.

Nowadays there is an obvious desire of people for everything natural, natural, and environmentally friendly. And against the background of growing interest in health, including various ethnic practices, ignoring the unique Russian folk experience, in our opinion, is short-sighted.

Not all cosmetologists can connect aesthetics and herbal medicine; for them, aesthetics is something more invasive, injections, peelings. How can your company's products help a cosmetologist in his work?

You touched on a relevant topic - this is a question of terminology and concepts in the industry. Unfortunately, there are still no clear definitions for many methods. Therefore, I will allow myself to explain what exactly we had in mind when we introduced the term “aesthetic herbal medicine” into the professional community.

For me, “aesthetics” and “cosmetology” are equivalent concepts (synonyms), often denoting the purpose of using a method. So, we are talking about aesthetic medicine when medical manipulations are used to correct cosmetic conditions - injections, surgeries, etc.

By analogy, we talk about “aesthetic herbal medicine,” when herbal medicine as a method is used to correct various cosmetic skin conditions.

There are several areas for using our phyto-products in the beauty and health industry.

The first is as a procedure for intensive restoration of any type of skin after aggressive exposure or stress (peelings, dermabrasion, mechanical and hardware cleansing, intense UV exposure, cold stress). This is due to the complex, but gentle effect of herbs on the main systems of the skin without disturbing natural homeostasis - water-electrolyte balance, acid-base balance, blood and lymph circulation, antioxidant system, regeneration system.

The second direction is as a regular and maintenance care procedure for reactive skin (sensitive, problematic, male, teenage).

The third direction is as complex procedures with manual techniques and hardware techniques (microcurrent therapy, ultrasound).

And one more area in which the possibilities of phyto-products are probably the widest is the use of our products in complex SPA programs for the face so for the body.

Of course, our products will also be of interest to specialists who are supporters of a holistic approach in cosmetology and aesthetic medicine, as well as specialists in the field of balneology.

You don’t hide the fact that the brand is Russian. Do you think this is more of a plus or a minus for our market?

There is probably no clear answer to this question. There are successful Russian companies on the market that produce very worthy professional and mass-produced products. Some of them seek to imitate foreign origin, for example, by registering their companies abroad, or by betting on products and practices that are exotic for Russia.

Frankly, when we launched our line, the question of possible negative consumer stereotypes and prejudices regarding Russian manufacturers was raised.

But we initially set as our goal the development and popularization of the concept of aesthetic herbal medicine precisely as a direction of the classical Russian school of herbal medicine. Which, in our opinion, is completely underestimated by the professional community today.

In addition, we believe that now both specialists and consumers, in general, are sufficiently “advanced” and informed to understand the huge number of products and services that are offered to them.

By the way, already the first year of our work and participation in the INTERCHARM Professional exhibition have shown that such fears of Russian manufacturers are largely far-fetched. We have seen significant interest in our products, both from clients and professionals, including, what is especially pleasant, our colleagues from near and far abroad.

We have made significant efforts to offer the market high-quality and effective professional products that meet the highest requirements, and we are glad that they are appreciated.

Tell us about training, do you have seminars for cosmetologists and salons? What secrets of working with the brand do you reveal as part of your training?

Of course we provide training, but we don't make it mandatory. The technique of using masks is quite simple; consultation with a specialist when purchasing is sufficient.

We offer free training seminars for those professionals who would like to add a new professional method to their arsenal.

Accordingly, during training we focus on the physiological foundations of aesthetic herbal medicine, the principles of developing complex programs, and the nuances of use. By the way, we cooperate with training courses for cosmetologists, for example, a seminar on the basics of aesthetic herbal medicine can be attended at the training courses for cosmetologists at the Institute of Plastic Surgery and Cosmetology, better known as the Institute of Beauty on Olkhovka.

Do Erbelinika cosmetics have any certificates or certificates of quality?

We, as a Russian company, work in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, our products have passed mandatory certification and we have all the documents necessary for our professional activities.

But today in Russia there is no national certification system for natural cosmetics and the concepts of “bio” or “eco” cosmetics are not yet regulated by Russian legislation; there is no Russian analogue to foreign certificates such as ECOCERT.

Of course, the emergence of a Russian system of certification of cosmetic products according to “naturalness” standards would contribute to the further structuring and development of the market for professional cosmetics.

As for obtaining foreign certificates by domestic manufacturers, the issue here is ambiguous. Firstly, in developed countries there are a number of different certificates and signs of “naturalness”, often contradicting each other, for example, ingredients prohibited by one certificate are allowed by another.

Secondly, certification systems, as a rule, were introduced by the manufacturers themselves, taking into account the specifics of local production. For example, in developed countries, raw materials are usually grown industrially, i.e. on plantations. And, accordingly, the requirements for raw materials of the BIO standard regulate, among other things, the technology of growing plants, the use of fertilizers, plant protection products, etc.

Our goal is to develop cosmetics mainly based on wild medicinal plants, which in their chemical composition and potency are significantly superior to cultivated ones. At the same time, we have the highest requirements for the origin and quality of raw materials - the procurement of raw materials and production meet pharmaceutical standards.

In addition, for example, according to the requirements of the ECOCERT certificate, at least 95% of all cosmetic ingredients must be of natural origin and at least 95% of all plants must be from environmentally friendly plantations.

And our masks, which, strictly speaking, do not belong to cosmetics, but to professional cosmetics, are a 100% herbal product that does not contain preservatives, including essential oils.

Does naturalness really = safety?

No, that's not true. Both natural and synthesized cosmetic products can be safe or unsafe.

Safety is the first requirement for cosmetic products of any origin. All cosmetics, synthetic or natural, presented for sale must undergo mandatory safety testing, which includes the study of toxicological characteristics, microbiological indicators, the potential for allergies and irritations, as well as the physicochemical properties of the product.

You suggest using Erbelinika masks also as part of a SPA ritual in salons. Do you plan to increase the range of products for use in SPA?

Yes, of course, as part of our concept we plan to expand both the basic range of phyto-masks and the line of auxiliary cosmetic products on cream and water bases.

Already in June we will present phyto-body masks and other products for the SPA area.
